So you have a website, or can have one made just as fast, but then you find out, you need a Merchant ID to do business on the web. Without a Merchant ID, you cannot accept a credit card, as it would be no good. Merchant ID is usually coupled with the little machine each merchant (shop) has when you give your credit card. These machines are programmed with the merchants ID and via telephone dial in the local bank, approve the sale against the credit card and issue an Authorization number. So you'll probably call Citibank, MCB, Grindlays bank or other local / foreign Pakistani banks, only to find out, that Merchant IDs for use on the Internet are not issued. No matter how much you try to convince them. No can do.
Besides even if you did get you local Merchant ID, your local bank would charge you on the high side for each transaction, as Pakistan is rated as a high-risk environment for MOTO Transactions. MOTO or Mail Order / Telephone Order transaction are those transactions, in which there is NO imprint of the Credit Card nor does the Merchant have an autograph of the card holder. Thus, chances of fraud etc. are high.
